As a “health food blogger” I find it almost embarrassing to say that there were times in my life that I did not care about health. In the beginning, my reasoning for a vegetarian diet was because I could no longer hurt animals, I just didn’t feel right eating meat. It wasn’t hard to give up, I never liked the taste of any meat.
Favorite childhood accidentally vegan foods:
- Beef stew, with the beef picked out
- Thanksgiving dinner, minus turkey, add masted potatoes x3
- Ramen noodles, oriental flavored with just a pinch of the seasoning (not vegan, but whatev.)
- French fries
Even though it wasn’t until later in my young life that I discovered chicken = chicken, I still choose not to eat meat. This lead to eating more “bad” carbs and processed food. As I became more aware of health and nutrition, I realised that I was doing this all wrong.
If I wanted to go vegan things were going to have to change!
This is why I am dedicating this post to all of my noob vegan readers out there! I don’t want you to make the same mistakes as I did, it’s not fun. Eating a healthy balanced vegan diet is very beneficial.
Just because you are vegan DOES NOT mean you are eating healthy.

Chocolate-Covered Strawberry SIAB
- About 5 strawberries, frozen
- 1/2 banana, frozen
- 1/4-1/2 cup almond milk (depends on how thick & creamy you want it!)
- 1 t cocoa powder
- 1/2 t stevia
- dash salt
I was so excited to make this smoothie that I forgot to add protein powder! I never make breaky smoothies without protein. It was so worth it though. The chocolate taste is just enough, not to over-powering for breakfast! Just like a chocolate-covered strawberry. 🙂
Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day?
I just want to say THANK YOU to all my readers who left me with some support on my last post. This problem has been going on for 6 months now and I really hope that they find out what it is quick! I never thought I’d be discussing my health problems
pubicly publicly but you guys made me feel so much better and now I feel silly for keeping it in for so long! It’s common stuff to have those issues!
I’ve been feeling a little better though. I’ve been staying away from the gym and staying away from sitting on hard surfaces, that’s for sure. It’s a good time to catch up on some studying anyway. But who wants to talk about school right now when we can talk about….

I don’t usually post smoothie recipes on the blog because everyone can make a smoothie.
Butttt, I think I might start posting them because I’ve been coming up with some pretty crazy stuff!

& I STILL HAVEN’T TOLD YOU ABOUT MY POSSIBLY LIFE CHANGING DECISION!
I’m sure you are all wondering what the big new is that I wanted to share with you. Well you see, I’m strongly considering becoming a Zumba instructor! I know I’ve only done a handful of classes since I started back up again, but I love it. It not really the dancing that I love, it how much fun and addictive it is! Honestly, I’m always looking forward to my next class.
What’s going on in my head:
- Fun job
- New & exciting work environment
- Getting paid to work out
- Stop working so much at my stupid job!
- A foot in the door as any future aerobic classes and health club in general 😉
- Certification fee + ZIN monthly membership (from what I understand is going to be like $600 in just the first year, correct me if I’m wrong.)
- Not a huge pay out and would probably still need my current job
- Never have been a dancer in my entire life (BUT, like I said, my classes would be more of a fun workout rather then a hardcore dance routine)
- Not extremely out-going (but I’m getting there too)
- I do not have a lot of experience
As you can see, I’m T O R N !
The next time to get certified in March 13th, 4 hours away. (Hotel fee, gas fee, ect…)
Or I could stop being inpatient and hope that something comes around in the summer that is closer? I’m seriously leaning toward this!

A wonderful recipe stolen from the Eat-Clean Diet Cookbook
- 1 scoop protein powder (I only had hemp powder so I left this one out)
- 1/3 cup dry oatmeal
- 2/3 cup almond milk
- 1 tbsp almond butter
- 1 banana, frozen
- 2 tbsp unsweetened applesauce
- 1 tbsp flax-seed meal (or still in seed form is cool too)
- 1 tbsp wheat germ
- 1/2 cup ice
“Blend together and drink your breakfast!”
This taste wonderful! Almost taste like a PB&B (B is for BANANA)
Also, if you are in the mood for something for fruity try adding frozen blueberries or strawberries!
Strawberry was a good choice for me.
This was a very tasty way to heal myself from being sick. And besides, when does a smoothie not sound good? And if you live in Michigan right now you know how randomly warm it has been the past few weeks. Gotta love that Michigan weather! I hope it says nice out for my day off tomorrow. I plan on taking my uncle’s dog for a long nature walk because she doesn’t get to go out much. I used to walk her all the time but this last summer was so busy and stressful that I didn’t get enough me time in at all. Can’t wait to take pictures of the fall colors!
