Swanson Health Products Review

13 Aug

Discount Vitamins and Supplements - Swanson Health Products

I was very interested when Swanson contacted me asking for me to review their products for free. I have never heard of the company until I looked on their website. I was so surprised to see such a great selection (not just vitamins!) and at such an affordable price. Swanson offers their own line of products and other big name brands such as Clif Bar, Amazing Grass, Eden Foods, Nutiva, Bob’s Red Mill and NOW foods.

As silly as it sounds, I had to spend a few days on their site to finally pick what I want!

I decided on:

Hemp Seed Oil

Hemp seed oil

I have used this in smoothies and on salads. Basically anywhere that I used to use flaxseed oil just to change things up!

Maca

Maca powder

I’ve seen this around in the blog world and thought I would give it a try considering how affordable it was.

Life's Basics Plant Protein Powder - Vanilla

& Lifetime Vitamins life’s basics plant protein powder

When I was searching on Swanson’s site for good, clean, plant protein powders, I found this beauty. I’ve seen this product in stores before but never at such a low price! From what I have experienced, clean protein powders usually cost around $30 a tub (or $2 a serving). Swanson sells the same stuff for almost have the price of a regular health food store! I was very impressed. The taste was fantastic too! Not chalky or gritty at all. Honestly, it makes every smoothie taste like a {healthy!} vanilla shake.

I will definitely start buying this powder from Swanson’s on a regular basis! 😉

I was overall pleased with Swanson Health Products. I do a lot of online shopping and I definitely feel more comfortable buying from a family owned company like Swanson where everyone is friendly and helpful!

Sun Warrior Review

2 Jun

as promised! ( a longg time ago)

The lovely creators of Sun Warrior sent me a few samples to try. I have seen this protein powder used by just about every blogger, I was so jealous! I HAD to try it! I love all of the information they sent me too! Yeah, I’m a nerd. 😀

Ingredients:

I don’t think the ingredients could be any cleaner, I love it! & Wow, that’s a lot of Amino Acids! I was pretty impressed.

Taste & Texture: A+, that’s all I have to say! I thought this powder was best used in oats!

Cost: This is one of the more expensive protein powders but honestly, I think it would be worth it. A good protein powder is hard to find!

So I think I may have found a new favorite protein powder! I have never even seen it in stores so I will probably be ordering from this website if you are interested.

What is your favorite brand of protein powder?

Spring Cleaning & a RAW Review

15 May

Goals for this week:

  • Work on the core
  • Eat “cleaner” foods
  • Start my new Spring Cleaning program*

*I have noticed that heavy breads and meals that focus too much on processed carbs (which I shouldn’t be eating anyway) leave me feeling sluggish and weak. I want to try eliminating all foods that upset my body like wheat, sugar, caffeine, and processed anything(not like I haven’t said this before!) I guess I would consider this as somewhat as a detox, but not nearly as extreme. I’ve been talking about eating better for a while now but this time I have a plan.

So stay tuned for new healthy recipes!

!!!Review!!!

A few weeks ago I was sent a sample of ‘RAW protein powder’ from Garden of Life. I see this stuff everywhere but I was afraid to buy it because not only is it pretty expensive, I didn’t want to be stuck with a big tub of this protein powder if it didn’t even taste good.

The taste was pretty good compared to most protein powders. I really like the taste of raw protein powders. Very earthy without the chalky taste! Can’t beat that!

Not only did this stuff taste great, they sent me a $5 off coupon too! Thanks Garden of Life!

Last night, Scott and I went out for SUSHI!

I ordered my favorite roll…. SWEET POTATO!

Sides: fried fermented tofu and veggie tempura

Maybe I over-did the fried part? Whoops!

Hi baby tomtom! How did that get in there?  Isn’t he cute? Hogging all the toys and what not.

How was your weekend?

The Shopping Cart

9 Feb

Hey look, my computer is working again. That was weird, maybe it was one of those 24-hour colds… 😉

So, it’s like tradition that when I get back from Whole Foods/Trader Joe’s I share my wonderful new eats with you! These are my favorite posts to read/write. Hello, new foods! Who’s with me!?

The boyfriend and I went right after church because we ok I couldn’t wait to go. Who gets this excited over grocery shopping anyway? 😀

Enough rambling, here’s The Goods:

Holy cow! This big tub of protein powder for $13.99!

(NO PEANUT FLOUR! 😦 )

I don’t usually buy this many snacks, trust me. When I take my trip to TJ’s & WF’s it’s usually every three months or so and I stock up of this kinda stuff! Especially TJ’s dried fruit section! That’s my favorite part. I usually but all my staples at local stores like Kroger.

Before Whole Food’s, we bought some lunch at the hot food/salad bar.

My plate looked a little like this:

I tried a little bit of everything from noodles, a couple different baked tofu pieces, “tuna” pate, hearts of palm salad, some quinoa salad, and curried cauliflower. This was awesome!

What your favorite item at the Whole Food’s Bar?

My mom and I did Zumba this morning! It was so fun I’m really glad she liked it. Now time to go to class and then spend my evening doing LOTS of homework!

Lots of reviews to come and a special announcement (more like, I need y’alls opinions on a possible life-changing announcement! gasp!)

Trying New Things

26 Jan

Thanks for all the support on my last post. I did it. I dropped A&P and now I will be taking a phycology class on Tuesday nights for 4 freaking hours! That’s a long class! I don’t get out until almost 10PM which really sucks for multiple reasons:

  1. I get up at 5AM on Tuesdays because I work from 6-2, I’m going to be so freaking tried!
  2. No more Biggest Loser 😦
  3. No more pilates/yoga class and legs class with my favorite instructor
  4. The last place I want to be at 10PM is the 4th most dangerous city in America, not to mention the first worse city for assault.
  5.

My father is NOT pleased with this late night class, he says I must get a gun permit and I honestly don’t think he was joking!

So as you can tell, I’m still not confident in the choice I have made. But you know what? Life goes on. It’s not about finishing first and rushing through life. I need to chill! My adviser told me, “Well, you know, if you get a 2.0 you’ll still pass the class…” I’m sorry but that was such a stupid statement! Who wants to ‘just pass’? Well, maybe the old me would have settled for ‘just passing’ but I want a 3.5 or higher, please!

Anyway, as far as the food has been I changed it up a little! Now for breakfast I eat a protein-loaded meal such as a smoothie, or some ‘fu scramble w/ black beans. This is just a little test for me.  🙂

Speaking of protein smoothies, I’ve switched back to my hemp protein instead of soy. It’s weird how sometimes I love something but then automatically stop liking it for no reason at all and switch to something else. I’m so silly.

And as far as working out goes….

I’ve been going to the gym like less than 2 times a week; it’s sad.

But I do have some good news!:

So remember how I hated Zumba because it was so awful and confusing? Guess what? My favorite instructor at my gym is now teaching Zumba and I love it! I don’t feel off-beat and behind, it’s great. And you know what else? I’m the youngest one in the class, HA! I love old ladies, they make me feel good about my Zumba skills. However, I am still experiencing crazy blisters on my feet because I’m constantly sweating like a pig! That’s my own fault though, I really need to get some good sweat-proof socks. Any suggestions?

Hopefully with this extra time I have now, I can whip myself back into shape!

Wow this post is all about the new, positive things in my life, I love it.

Have you tried any new fitness classes lately?

Oh, and Katie is having another giveaway! I want this one bad!!!

And did you check out my new side bars, I’m so fancy! —> —>
