I’m Amazing

10 Jul

How are you?

My friend Allison over at Food For Healing tagged me for the AMAZING BLOGGER AWARD!

1. Favourite cartoon character:

Not really a big cartoon person these days, but growing up I like The Rugrats. Does that count? ūüėČ

2. Favourite thing to photograph:

Food, duh. Just kidding, I actually never used to photograph food and I feel like I’m still learning a lot from it. Anything in nature is my thing to photograph such as birds, trees, flowers, water, you name it.¬†Big on landscapes though:

3. Favourite thing to Cook:

Breakfast. Pancakes, oatmeal, smoothies, muffins, homemade yogurt, and all the other good stuff!

4. Favourite way to Exercise:

Zumba!!!! Zumba Fitness has taught me a lot about my body. We work different parts of the body each class and I¬†understand what my body likes (fast cardio)¬†and what it doesn’t (swats).

5. Favourite Movies:

I cannot watch the same movie twice. But I think you should watch Earthlings, I have a link over here ——–>

6. Clothing:

Yoga pants is where it’s at. And not the tight kind that give you a camel toe, seriously, cover that up!

7. Flower:

Sunflower.

Mine are just babies right now!

8. Breakfast:

I love pancakes and I love green smoothies! Maybe I should try green pancakes? ūüėČ

9. Book:

Any cook book¬† or vegan diet book really.I lovelovelove The Kind Life, Crazy Sexy Diet, and Skinny Bitch. I think we should all get together for coffee…I mean, tea…. and talk about food and stuff.

We would invite Tal too! I met Rory from Skinny Bitch before¬†also but, did not get a picture with her. ūüė¶

10. What is your least favorite food?

Meat? Hahah. Sometimes I try so hard to think of a veggie that I do¬†not like, but I love them all. I don’t like cucumber but I love it in juice and pickled. I don’t like beets but, I like them¬†pickled too. I’m not a huge fan of sprouts but I love sprouting them myself. I guess something I really hate is¬†cilantro. Yuck.

Feel free to tag yourself if you haven’t done this!

Skip Easter Dinner…

25 Apr
I want BREAKFAST!

Did everybody have a happy Easter?

Easter breakfast consisted of my first ever BOATMEAL CAKE!

Flavor of choice? Banana Bread! ūüėÄ

I didn’t really feel like making anything too special for dinner. I actually spent my¬†Easter studying for finals and writing¬†a final essay. Sounds fun, right?

I did however have time to make dessert. That’s just a must.

As I was writing my final paper I thought I would share a piece with you.

“Topic of choice” essays usually led to something along the lines of “Benefits of a Plant-Based Diet” research papers. As much as I write about this topic, you think I would just recycle¬†old papers and turn them without having to do any work. For my own sake, I mix them up a bit. One time I wrote about the dairy industry,¬†another time I wrote on factory farming. Now, I’m just combining them all together muhaha. Anyway back to my research I wanted to share!

The plant-based diet includes a wide variety of whole foods consisting of beans, whole-grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds, along with products made from these natural foods, such as tofu, tempeh, and meat analogs. Those who believe plant protein is inferior to animal protein may be surprised to learn that plant proteins contain the same 22 amino acids as¬†animal proteins. The meat and dairy industries spend billions of dollars to project their message right into your shopping cart through¬†television commercials, magazine ads, and grocery store ads. These powerful industries even recognized it was important to teach young children “good nutrition” ¬†at a very early age. Since the end of World War¬†2 they spread their protein message to our nation’s youth by providing schools across the U.S. with colorful charts of the “important food groups” that emphasized meat, dairy products, and eggs. For the decades following World War 2, one simply could not ignore the emphasis on protein.

Interesting, eh? It goes on to say that protein deficiency only occurs in 3rd world countries (if any) because of the lack of food. Basically, if you have food, you have protein whether it be a grain or a bean.

One Lovely Blog

7 Apr

How sweet, I got this from Allison @ Food For Healing

Seven Facts about myself:

  1. Current obsession: coconut yogurt. I’ve always loved it but I seriously can’t get enough lately! Perfect with frozen strawberries. Fro-yo anyone?
  2. I made peanut butter blondies on Wednesday and already ate 4… it’s Thursday night,¬†I need to stop this! :0
  3. I cannot stop listening to Zumba Fitness music. Currently listening to: Que Te Pica.
  4. I usually prefer 90s alternative rock…. big jump, huh?
  5. For some reason I’ve always been pressured to be THE BEST. Not by my parents or anyone else, just me. I hate it. Everything I’ve always wanted to do, I couldn’t finish cause I wasn’t “the best“. Example: not being a¬†Zumba¬†Instructor because I’m “not good enough” yet. :/
  6. I never thought I would go to college. I HATED¬†high school that much. (College is way different btw) ūüėČ
  7. I¬†hardly ever¬†weigh myself. Who cares about how many exact pounds you weigh? It’s how you feel,¬† m a n .

Tag your it!

¬†I would tag people but my link button isn’t working. Again. Sweet. Awesome.

Awards for all!

5 Mar

Yay¬†me, I’ve just been awarded the Stylish Blogger Award by Jess! I’ve never got an award before….

The rules for this award are:

1. Make a post & link back to the person who awarded you this award.

2. Share 7 things about yourself.

3. Award a few recently discovered great bloggers.

4. Contact these bloggers and tell them they’ve won!

Seven things about myself (that you probably don’t know let’s make this interesting):

  1. I have had the same job for over 3 years (Hey, that’s impressive for a 19-year-old) It’s not that I LOVE my job, because honestly I don’t…. But I just don’t like change, it’s stressful.
  2. I used to brush my teeth at least 5-7 times per day, it was insane. Now, I’m not that crazy about it, 3 times a day will do!
  3. Like most people, I’m slightly OCD about some things, again, I’m not as bad as I used to be. I used to count my steps everywhere I went in pattern and I could not step on a crack. If I did step on one I’d have to step on the same crack with the other foot. Well, I actually still do this one but I make it not so noticeable. And if I am walking next to somebody and were talking, they have to be on my left side. Always. Gosh, I could go on about this! I know, I’m a freak!
  4. I’m never late. Seriously, if I have to be somewhere at a certain time I am always early at least by a few minutes. Which by the way is one of my biggest pet peeves: people who are late. One time after school I had to work at 4PM and I feel asleep around 3:30PM and I woke up at 3:56PM and was only 5 minutes late to work. & That was the only time I was ever late. Plus, we are allowed to be up to 10 minutes late. ūüôā
  5. I need my sleep, all of it. I cannot function on less than 7 hours of sleep. Well, I could but I literally would get sick.
  6. I’m obsessed with nut butters (ok, so you already knew that one!) but really, I have a storage in my room for back up! That’s sad.
  7. When I was little I always wanted to be a veterinarian. Then, I realized I would see a lot of animals die and I don’t think I could handle that! So now I want to do the next best thing, a vegan-promoting dietician to save the animals ūüôā

Now I really can’t think of anyone who has not done this already! And if you haven’t? Consider your self TAGGED!!! ūüôā

Recipe Quicky

So one thing I must share is this wonderful breakfast I have been making on my busy mornings:

Super chocolate overnight oats!

(I got this idea from Allison)

1/3 Р1/2 cup oats

3/4 cup chocolate hazelnut milk

2 tbsp chia seeds

1 mashed banana

1 spoonful chocolate peanut butter

1/2 scoop protein powder

This is amazing! I love it. Actually this is the only overnight oats I’ve ever loved.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Oh and before I go, I am going to get to that broccoli ched. soup recipe, I keep leaving it at my boyfriend’s house!!!

& I’m so excited about this: Our friend Katie¬†is entering to win this blog contest for Health magazine! Be sure to enter her here. Wouldn’t that be sooo cool? ūüėÄ

Bye!
